Smashburger franchise deal focuses on airport locations

September 22, 2009

Smashburger has announced its partnership with PhaseNext Hospitality — a minority- and woman-owned multi-concept franchise operator focusing on non-traditional venues. Over the next year, PhaseNext will begin to bring Smashburger to seven U.S. airports including Dallas-Ft. Worth (DFW), Houston George Bush Intercontinental (IAH), and Washington Ronald Reagan National (DCA).

"Smashburger's growth and success in traditional restaurant spaces has been extremely impressive," said Smashburger president Scott Crane. "We are pleased to partner with PhaseNext Hospitality and anticipate Smashburger's continued success in non-traditional expansion."

Smashburger also announced it is adding a new burger to the menu of its Twin Cities metro locations.

Twin Cities Smashburger fans discovered the Spicy Baja Smashburger on the company Web site and requested on blogs and Twitter accounts for the menu item. In response, Smashburger is adding the burger to its Twin Cities menu starting Sept. 28. The Spicy Baja is a one-third or one-half pound burger topped with artisan pepper jack cheese, guacamole, jalapenos, lettuce, tomato and onion, and finished with chipotle mayo on a toasted chipotle bun.
