Under the direction of Boparan Restaurant Group, Slim Chickens added to its United Kingdom roster this week with a store in the Westquay Shopping Centre at Harbour Parade in Southampton.
BRG, which also owns seven Slim Chickens locations in London, Bristol, Cardiff and Kent, entered into a sub-franchise development agreement with JRK Restaurants allowing the London-based company to sub-franchise five outlets across the United Kingdom's South Coast.
"As a result of this new signing, we have taken the first steps in our ambitious sub-franchise plans to fast track the roll out of Slim Chickens and introduce the brand to customers in more towns and cities across the UK," Judd Williams, BRG's franchise director, said in a company press release.
Karim Kassam, chairman of JRK, called the better-chicken chain one of the most exciting new brands in the market.
"We are delighted to be opening our first Slim Chickens restaurant within Southampton's very popular WestQuay Shopping Centre," he said.
Since its founding in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2003, Slim Chickens has opened 100 units and plans to hit 600 restaurants by 2025.
