Slim Chickens opening first Cleveland location in 2021

May 15, 2020

Slim Chickens will open the first of six locations planned for Cleveland, Ohio in the first quarter of 2021.

It will mark the brand's first store in Cleveland and second in the state, according to a press release.

The six-unit franchise agreement is with David Giesen, who is a multi-unit owner of several fast food and fast casual restaurants across Ohio and Colorado. Giesen owns 15 restaurants and has more than 29 years of restaurant ownership experience.

"Slim Chickens is a uniquely cool brand with so much growth potential. I knew this was a right fit for me —and now was the right time. Slim Chickens has maintained or increased its momentum in recent months and the brand’s sales are up year-over-year," said Giesen in the release. "I am excited to be introducing the brand to the Cleveland market — they'll be Slim Chickens’ fans in no time!"

"David is a perfect addition to the Slim Chickens family. He has the extensive restaurant experience that we are looking for in a multi-unit owner," said Jackie Lobdell, executive director of franchise development at Slim Chickens, in the release. "As a multi-brand franchisee, he understands that now is the time to diversify with a strong and unique brand that’s positioned for success in the months and years ahead."

The brand has opened 100 locations across the United States, the United Kingdom and Kuwait, and has more than 350 units in development.
