Slapfish 'popping up' in Brooklyn

Slapfish celebrating National Seafood Month with a unique New York event.

Andrew Gruel, chef and founder of LA’s fast casual concept Slapfish, is setting up shop for one day in New York on Tuesday, Oct. 13 inside Loosie's Kitchen, a Brooklyn restaurant.

After taking seafood head on in California with his Slapfish food truck, Gruel opened seven green-certified restaurants in three years. The chef, who has appeared on the Food Network, Cooking Channel, and FYI Network, is now on a mission to take New York, according to company press release.

In celebration of National Seafood Month, Gruel has partnered with Sea to Table to source the "most seasonal wild seafood" for a five-course prix fixe event, featuring

  • Tuna Salad and Vegetable Crudite
    Yellowfin Tuna | Montauk, New York
  • Chowder Fries
    Littleneck Clams | Cape Cod Massachusetts
  • Double-Double/ Lobster Burger
    Lobster | Old Port, Maine
  • Inkredible Squid
    Longfin Squid | Point Judith, Rhode Island
  • Ultimate Fish Taco
    Tilefish | Montauk, New York

Reservations are being taken for the Tuesday pop-up dining event with three seatings at 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.  Tickets are available ($70) on Sosh.com.
