Simply Hooked, a New York sustainable seafood restaurant serving fresh fish and chips inspired by the culinary traditions of Ireland and the Basque region of France, is opening its first restaurant this month in New York City's Lower East Side, according to a company press release.
Founded by MasterChef finalist, Chef Matthias Leuliette, and restaurateur, Jason Linehan, Simply Hooked allows customers to create their own experience by selecting a regionally sourced, sustainably caught fish and choosing their preferred coating, which could include a classic tempura finish to a spicy Wasabi crust, according to a company press release.
"We continue to create delicious tastes and will not settle for anything less than responsibly sourced, in season, fresh fish," Leuliette said in the release. "We only work with forward-thinking fisheries to ensure an honest product to complement our vision of continued diversity of species, so future generations will not go without the best quality fish at their local fish-and-chip shop."
Simply Hooked plans to open a total of four units in New York City.
