Shake Shack is opening this summer in downtown Houston, according to a company press release.
The 3,242-square-foot location, 702 Main St., will include an outdoor patio, and builders will construct it from recycled and sustainable materials. Booths, for example, will come from lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, and tabletops will be made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes in order to keep with Shake Shack's commitment to green architecture and eco-friendly construction, according to the release.
Upon opening, the chain will also choose a local charity partner to whom it will donate 5 percent of sales from one of its concretes.
Since the original Shack opened in 2004, in NYC's Madison Square Park, the company has expanded to nearly 200 locations in 26 U.S. States and the District of Columbia, including more than 70 international locations across London, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Dubai, Tokyo, Moscow, Seoul and more.
