Shake Shack hires John Karangis as VP of culinary innovation

Shake Shack, a burger franchise, has hired John Karangis to serve as executive chef and vice president of culinary innovation. He will work to develop innovative new additions to the Shake Shack menu, according to a press release.

Prior to joining Shake Shack, Karangis served seven years as executive chef for Union Square Events. He helped develop recipes for a variety of venues such as Citi Field and the Café at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

"Shake Shack is more committed than ever to growth, evolution and culinary excellence," Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti said in the release. "With the recent addition of our innovation kitchen, we are acutely focused on further developing a thoughtful and exciting menu for our guests. I couldn't think of a better chef than John to lead us there. I've known John for a long time and his experience and expertise will add tremendous value."
