Shake Shack is opening its first Louisiana shack Friday in Metairie, a suburb of New Orleans, according to a company press release. Located at 3501 Veterans Memorial Blvd., just off North Causeway Boulevard on the corner of Severn Avenue, the unit is the first step in a larger expansion in Louisiana. Two additional locations are coming this year to Canal Place, a shopping destination in New Orleans, and the Louis Armstrong Airport.
The 3,755 square-foot Shack in Metairie has a patio, a custom mural designed by Monica Kelly, and tabletops made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes. Chairs are made out of sustainable materials, and booths are made from lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
In addition to the chain's standard menu, the Metairie Shack will serve frozen custard concretes in partnership with local purveyor Haydel's Bakery. Flavors include:
Guests can wash their burgers down with local brews from Abita Brewery, Nola Brewing Company, Dixie Beer and Second Line Brewing, plus Shake Shack's Brooklyn Brewery Shackmeister Ale. Wine lovers may order a glass of Shack red and Shack white wine from the Gotham Project.
As part of Shake Shack's mission to stand for something good, the Metairie Shack will donate 5% of sales from the Pie Oh My concrete throughout the life of the shack to Louisiana SPCA, a nonprofit animal shelter dedicated to promoting, protecting and advancing the well-being of Louisiana's companion animals, according to the release.
