Schlotzsky's marks 6-year anniversary of supporting Type 1 diabetes research
Schlotzsky's is nearing its $1 million donation mark for juvenile diabetes research and now plans to run a "Give $1, Get $1" promotion to push things over the top. A news release said the coupons allow customers to get a $1 coupon for each $1 they donate to the research foundation devoted to finding answers to the disease, a news release said.
On Sept. 24, the company will host its 35th annual Schlotzsky's Bun Run in Austin and all proceeds from the registration fees will go towards the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Schlotzsky's will also host the Day of Dough Raising Dough fundraiser on Sept. 26 when it will donate 10 percent of its sales to JDRF, while its corporate arm will match those donations.
"Since beginning our partnership, we've been able to donate to JDRF with 'Give $1, Get $1' and proceeds from our long-time Bun Run event in Austin, Texas. This year we're excited to help support the cause in a new way with our Day of Dough Raising fundraiser," Kelly Roddy, president of Schlotzsky's, said in the release. "We're thrilled to know that with the support of Schlotzsky's fans we're making such a big impact for people living with Type 1 or juvenile diabetes, as we reach $1 million in donations to JDRF over the past six years."
