As part of a $226 million renovation, Sycuan Casino Resort in El Cajon, California, is opening The UnCommons — a food hall featuring cuisine from five San Diego-based fast casual brands including The Hangry Slice, Hodad's, Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop, Luna Grill and Phil's BBQ, according to a company press release.
"Sycuan chose top-tier, fast casual brands that have original roots in San Diego, each offering their unique and iconic dishes that will appeal to a wide range of guests," John Dinius, general manager at Sycuan Casino, said in the release. "These brands are well-known for consistent quality and a passion for giving back to the local community, and each seemed like a natural fit for The UnCommons. This collection of San Diego's best will surely solidify Sycuan Casino as a place where guests can visit and enjoy a multitude of dining, gaming and entertainment options."
Kevin Sheehan, EVP and COO at Phil's BBQ, which opened in 1998, said the brand was honored to partner with the casino in San Diego County.
"We can't wait to bring our award-winning mesquite grilled BBQ to The UnCommons market and help take the dining experience at Sycuan to the next level," he said.
Although the Hangry Slice is new to the dining scene, Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop opened in 2008; Luna Grill was founded in 2004, and Hodad's opened in 1969.
