Saladworks, Frutta Bowls opening co-branded restaurant

Saladworks and Frutta Bowls are opening a co-branded restaurant this week in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Located at 31876 Del Obispo, and owned by two husband-and-wife teams, Rod and Shannon Markum andNick and Michele Vernola, the restaurant serves salad and acai bowls as well as create-your-own options, including salads, wraps, soups, bowls, smoothies and protein bites.

"We are looking forward to bringing healthy and flavorful food options to San Juan Capistrano," Rod Markum said in a company press release. "We plan to expand further into the area in the coming years and we look forward to continuing serving the community we call home."

Founded in 1986, Saladworks has 165 locations, and Frutta Bowls has 39 locations. Both concepts are owned by WOWorks, a parent company family of restaurant brands that also includes Barberitos Southwestern Grille and Cantina, Garbanzo Mediterranean Fresh, The Simple Greek and Zoup Eatery.
