Rita's Italian Ice named in Top 50 Franchises for Minorities

November 4, 2008

TREVOSE, Pa. — Rita's Italian Ice, an Italian ice chain with more than 500 stores in 17 states, has been designated one of the top 50 franchises for minorities by the National Minority Franchising Initiative (NMFI), the company announced. Established in 2000, the NMFI is committed to increasing minority representation in the franchising industry.

As one of the selected franchises, Rita's will be recognized in The 50 Top Franchises for Minorities report listed in USA Today by NMFI.

Rita's was recognized for its commitment to the recruitment and advancement of minority franchise owners. Selection for the NFMI's top 50 minority franchises is based on a variety of measurements and criteria, including historical performance, brand identification, market dynamics, franchisee satisfaction, the level of initial training and ongoing support and financial stability.

NMFI also reviews a comprehensive questionnaire completed by the franchisor that reports the number of minority-owned franchises in the system, as well as the number of minorities in senior management positions throughout the system.

"We are honored that the National Minority Franchising Initiative has recognized our commitment to recruiting and maintaining minority franchise owners," said Jim Rudolph, chairman of the board and CEO, Rita's Italian Ice. "At Rita's, we believe our franchise partners should reflect the diverse population of guests that we serve every single day."
