Rise Southern Biscuits inks 15-unit deal for Tennessee

Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken has inked a deal with multi-unit franchisee Fred Fordin to open a minimum of 15 Rise locations throughout Tennessee over the next five years, according to a press release.

"The State of Tennessee is lacking in breakfast options in the fast casual space, and I felt Rise was the perfect concept to bring to the area," Fordin, who has two units operating in Nashville and Germantown, Tennessee, said in the release. "Rise is a home run in any environment. Even with the decrease in tourism, the locals still want their chicken biscuit delivered right to their home."

When the pandemic hit, Rise quickly changed its operations model, a strategy that helped keep Fordin's location afloat over the past year.

"I realized the future of QSR was moving towards online orders and delivery, so we leaned into technology and online ordering," Rise Founder Tom Ferguson said in the release. "We implemented these changes in all of our franchise locations by the end of February 2020, so we were in good condition when the pandemic hit."

Rise was founded in 2012 and has 16 locations in six states.
