Rise Biscuits & Donuts, a fast casual restaurant in Durham, North Carolina that serves sweet and savory breakfast and lunch options, is ready to expand its franchise program, according to a company press release. Since signing deals for a total of eight restaurants, the brand will more than triple its existing presence in the Triangle region by opening five units in its home state.
The brand’s first franchisee, who signed a two-unit deal for Raleigh in 2014, has signed a lease with construction already underway for a store in Morrisville, which is scheduled to open it later this month. The second unit is set to open at Cameron Village in Raleigh in August or September with subsequent locations planned for the Sutton Square shopping center in Raleigh, a unit in Downtown Durham, and a unit in Carrboro/East Main Square which is planned for a winter 2015-2016 opening, according to the release.
Ty Gwennap, franchisee for the Morrisville location, who recently attended the Pal’s Business Excellence Institute with Rise Founder Tom Ferguson and Manager Andy Seamans, said it was an easy decision to work with Rise Biscuits & Donuts once he began evaluating potential franchise options. As a Durham resident he is already a fan of the brand and told the Triangle Business Journal he plans to keep the Rise’s 'local feel' in his store.
The chain, which partnered with Fransmart last year, is putting "gourmet food on Grandma’s biscuits" and offering "unique donut and biscuit flavors" that are made fresh in house every day, according to the release.
