Restaurants add fall flavors back to menus

September 20, 2010

Panera Bread restaurants and Red Mango have announced the return of several fall-inspired menu items.

Panera’s Orchard Harvest Chicken Salad, featuring d’Anjou pears, dried cherries, gorgonzola cheese and toasted pecans, has returned to the menu along with its Pumpkin Spice Latte.

“Pumpkin is such a versatile ingredient and has such a unique flavor that it can easily transition between savory and sweet,” said Dan Kish, Panera’s head chef.

The Pumpkin Spice Latte can be paired with Panera’s Pumpkin Cookie or the company’s latest addition to the bakery case, a new traditional sugar cookie made with M&M milk chocolate candies.

Red Mango also is returning its Pumpkin Spice frozen yogurt.

Now through the end of the year, Red Mango will offer Pumpkin Spice at participating stores nationwide along with its graham cracker crumb topping.

"Pumpkin Spice is the flavor everyone loves, and is back by popular demand," said Dan Kim, founder and chief concept officer of Red Mango. "We captured the essence of autumn in a cup, and the response was overwhelming. Pumpkin Spice achieves that perfect blend of pumpkin and cinnamon with the taste and aroma that signifies this time of year and welcomes the holiday season."

Pumpkin Spice was Red Mango's first-ever seasonal flavor to roll out nationwide.
