Red Mango and Ganeden Biotech, the largest seller of over-the-counter probiotics in the U.S., are recipients of a SupplySide Scientific Excellence Award for their collaboration and introduction ofRed Mango's Probiotic Iced Teas.
The award, which recognizes a leading ingredient supplier with a consumer packaged goods manufacturer for delivering an innovative product, will be presented at SupplySide West on Nov. 13, at The Venetian & The Sands in Las Vegas.
"This is a huge honor as we push the boundaries to deliver health, taste and style to consumers across the country with the very best products in the industry," said Dan Kim, president and CEO of Red Mango. "Adding our line of probiotic iced teas to the menu was a natural extension to our popular all-natural frozen yogurt flavors and another easy way for customers to stay healthy."
Red Mango was the first retailer to offer made-to-order iced teas fortified withprobiotics, which debuted in July of 2009. The company introduced three flavors: Lemonocity, Mysteaque and Fanteasia, each incorporating GanedenBC30, a patented strain of probiotic shown to help support the immune system and regulate the digestive system.
"The probiotic iced teas developed in conjunction with Red Mango are a great step forward for probiotic delivery in a product that is widely consumed," said Mike Bush, vice president of business development for Ganeden Biotech. "We believe that it is important for consumers to integrate probiotic products into their everyday lives without having to add new habits or new products into their daily rituals. For iced tea drinkers, this innovation is a huge leap forward."
