Red Mango to open café in New Jersey

December 26, 2013

New Jersey native Sunny Shakhawala is the newest franchisee to join the Red Mango brand and will open one of the chain’s first new-build locations. The expanded concept for the international franchise will serve meals under 500 calories, snacks and juices in addition to the frozen yogurts, smoothies and parfaits.

Shakhawala’s café will open in a few months at 92 Route 23 North in Riverdale.

"Owning a business is in my blood," he said in a news release. "It's what I have been working toward in all my previous 9-to-5 jobs. "Red Mango products are the best of the best, and the franchise support team is incredible. I cannot think of a better time or a better company to start my franchising career with than this strong brand that offers customers an experience surpassing everyone in the industry."

Shakhawala, who graduated from Penn St. University with a finance degree, said he will use his business as a way to get involved in the community. For example, he plans to honor students for outstanding academics, recognize government employees for dedication and sponsor city events or teams. He also would like to partner with other local businesses to add value to the Riverdale shopping experience.

"I believe franchising is a great way to contribute to the economy at a municipal, state and federal level,” he said. "Red Mango has such a high appreciation for community involvement. The brand prides itself on presentation from the always full and fresh toppings bar to the well-arranged seating and inviting music. I cannot think of a better brand to bring to the community."
