Potbelly opening 1st California unit

Potbelly Sandwich Shop is opening its first shop Monday in California. The franchise, 14431 Culver Drive at the Walnut Village Center in Irvine, is part of a multi-unit franchise development deal with local resident and entrepreneur, Sameer Bhatia. He has committed to opening three more locations in the area with considerations for shops in Costa Mesa, Laguna Hills, Lake Forest or Mission Viejo during the next three years, according to a company press release.

"Sameer is the perfect fit to spearhead the brand's growth into California — his passion for what makes Potbelly unique and his commitment to providing a great customer experience is truly inspiring,” said Jeff Welch, SVP of Development for Potbelly. "We're excited for Sameer's first location to open and are confident the shop will quickly become a local favorite."

Potbelly has 450 shops in the United States and is seeking experienced multi-unit operators to help it grow.
