Popeyes’ US president leaving for Pei Wei CEO role

Ralph Bower has resigned his role as president-U.S. of Popeyes' to take the helm of Pei Wei.

Popeyes' Louisiana Kitchen's leadership team has been together since 2008, facilitating the company's five-pillar approach that has led to five years of consecutive sales growth and gained market share. 

But now, one of those leaders is leaving the company – Ralph Bower, president-U.S. announced he will resign effective Aug. 8 to accept a position as CEO of Pei Wei.

Popeyes has begun a search for his successor.

"On behalf of everyone at Popeyes, I want to thank Ralph for his contributions over the past six years. Ralph has been an important member of the Leadership Team that has led the transformation of the company's performance – improving franchise profitability, remodeling the system, accelerating new unit growth and strengthening our company-restaurant operating competencies," CEO Cheryl Bachelder said in a news release. "Our exceptional people, together with our strong business strategies make me confident that our momentum will continue through this transition of leadership."

Bachelder will oversee Bower's responsibilities during the transition.

Bower was named CEO today of Pei Wei, Wok HoldCo LLC's fast casual brand and a sister brand of P.F. Chang's.

"We are excited to have Ralph join our executive team as the CEO of Pei Wei. He brings a wealth of experience to the organization and has demonstrated success in leading business transformation that generates positive momentum and growth," WokHoldCo's CEO Rick Federico said in a news release.

Prior to joining Popeyes, Bower served time at Yum! Brands and Domino's Pizza. He began his career in the U.S. Navy.

With his new position, Bower will be based out of Scottsdale, Ariz. Popeyes is headquartered in Atlanta.

"I've long admired the Pei Wei brand and see tremendous growth opportunity for the entire organization. I have always had a love for brands with superior food and I look forward to working with the terrific Pei Wei management team to serve our passionate customers," he said.
