Pollo Tropical, a Caribbean-inspired fast casual brand based in Miami, has opened its newest restaurant in Trinidad & Tobago, representing the brand's 36th international franchised restaurant.
The newest Pollo Tropical is the second on the island of Trinidad, and is located near Port-of-Spain in the Trincity Shopping Center, which is the largest mall in Trinidad & Tobago and features more than 150 middle-to-high end retail outlets, a multi-cinema, multiple restaurants and a food court.
"This is the sixth international restaurant we have opened this year, making this our most active year yet for international growth," said Marc Mushkin, SVP of international development for Pollo Tropical. "We anticipate more Pollo Tropical locations opening in this market in 2014, and beyond."
The Trincity Shopping Center is projected to become the largest mall in the English-speaking Caribbean, according to its developer Premier Malls.
The new Pollo Tropical features the brand's signature flame-grilled marinated chicken, as well as roast pork, guava barbecue ribs and made-from-scratch side dishes, Mushkin said.
Unique Trinidadian sauces became part of the local Pollo Tropical menu when the brand was launched with the opening of the first Trinidad & Tobago restaurant in Port of Spain in 2010. These sauces include Trinidadian favorites such as "Chadon Beni" hot sauce and sizzling hot "pepper sauce" to complement the brand's signature sauces and salsas. Both Trinidad & Tobago Pollo Tropical restaurants are owned and operated by Quick Service Restaurants Limited.
