August 31, 2020

PLNT Burger, a plant-based fast casual concept that launched last year in Silver Spring, Maryland, is debuting its sixth store inside the Whole Foods Market at 1635 Boro Place in McLean, Virginia. The news comes less than one month after PLNT opened its fifth location inside the Whole Foods Market on Florida Avenue in Washington, D.C.

"Bringing PLNT Burger to Virginia via the Whole Foods Market in Tysons Corner is truly a dream come true for our team," Spike Mendelsohn, PLNT Burger's co-founder and culinary director chef, said in a company press release. "We are so grateful and humbled by our customers who continue to support our growth and mission to eat the change they wish to see in the world."

Although PLNT Burger continues to expand, Mendelsohn said his team has implemented the following precautions to ensure the safety of their workers and customers:

  • Offering food for contact-free pick-up at PLNT Burger, or for delivery via its new app.
  • Disinfecting counters and workspaces, and switching gloves every half hour.
  • Requiring staff to wear masks at all times.
  • Temporarily removing the ice cream cone option.

PLNT Burger will also remain open for walk-in customers to order at the counter for takeaway while maintaining safety as a priority and adhering to social distancing guidelines, according to the release.
