Planet Smoothie unveils Pink Promise to benefit Race for the Cure

March 23, 2010

Planet Smoothie has announced the creation of its Pink Promise Smoothie, named after the fighting survivors of breast cancer who have rallied around the global efforts of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The Pink Promise Smoothie, researched and developed by Planet Smoothie's nutritionist and approved by Komen for the Cure's breast health experts, is the first product of its kind to benefit Komen. The Pink Promise Smoothie features a blend of pomegranate juice, ruby red grapefruit juice, strawberries and Planet Smoothie's new proprietary prebiotic and probiotic yogurt.

"The Pink Promise Smoothie is filled with antioxidant-rich fruits, which are so essential for fending off free radicals that can contribute to a whole host of chronic diseases," Donna Shields, nutrition and recipe consultant for Planet Smoothie, said in a news release. "The added prebiotic and probiotic based frozen yogurt lends calcium, protein and good bacteria necessary for keeping digestive tracts functioning."

The Pink Promise Smoothie was introduced at the Planet Smoothie annual convention that inlcuded a private concert with country singer Candy Coburn, whose Pink Warrior song rallies women across America to participate in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure, a 60-mile walk taking place over three days. Beginning June 1, for every Pink Promise Smoothie sold, Planet Smoothie will donate 50 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, with a minimum guaranteed donation of $100,000 in the first year of partnership.
