Petrus Brands' Planet Smoothie has launched Planet Light, a line of more than 20 smoothies all containing fewer than 300 calories.
Planet Light options are sweetened with LeanLeaf, Planet Smoothie's proprietary sweetener made from a blend of agave and stevia plants. The sweetener is all-natural and contains no sugar.
"Planet Light smoothies are specially designed for those consumers who seek lower-calorie options to enhance their ability to live a healthier lifestyle," said Bonnie Rhinehardt, president of Planet Smoothie.
In addition to having fewer calories and no sugar, most of the 20 smoothies in the Planet Light line also are gluten-free, ideal for those afflicted with celiac disease, which affects one in every 133 people.
Among the new line is the Lunar Lemonade with Strawberries smoothie, a blend of lemonade, strawberries and bananas with a Fat Burner Blast. This option contains 250 calories, is sweetened with LeanLeaf and is gluten-free.
