Pita Mediterranean Street Food, based in Atlanta, has opened in Augusta, Georgia, marking the brand's 23rd location. The company is on track to open 11 more stores by the end of the year in Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
"We are experiencing rapid growth in our brand as the demand from consumers are looking for more affordable quality and healthy food variety, especially in suburb and growing demographic areas," Michael Carino, chief marketing officer, said in an email to FastCasual. "Our franchisees see that our Mediterranean cuisines fills this need of something different, unique and healthy.
Many of the chain's first-time customers have never had Mediterranean food before or had only heard of a gyro or shawarma pita, Carino said.
"Combining this curiosity with a welcoming experience is what appeals our customers to keep coming back and spread the word to their neighbors, friends and coworkers," he said.
