Pinkberry going south

The Pinkberry yogurt shop chain, based in L.A., is opening its first Alabama location.

Birmingham natives Russell Pate and Porter and Courtney Mason, local business owners, are Pinkberry's area developers for Alabama.

Pinkberry opened in its first store in West Hollywood in January 2005 and operates 75 stores throughout California, New York, Texas and internationally in Kuwait and Dubai.

A spokeswoman for the company said the Alabama Pinkberry will open in the former site of 32 degrees, a yogurt chain operated by Birmingham's Pizitz Management Group.
