Pinkberry co-founder pleads not guilty to assault

January 30, 2012

Pinkberry co-founder Young Lee, who was arrested in Los Angeles for allegedly beating a homeless man with a tire iron, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Lee, 47, is charged with one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, with a special allegation that the assault caused great bodily injury. The incident took place June 15, 2011, and left the homeless man with a broken arm and several cuts to his head.

According to the Associated Press, the terms of Lee's $60,000 bail were modified so he can travel to his native Korea later this month. He must surrender his passport when he returns to court March 5 for a preliminary hearing.

If found guilty, he could face up to seven years in prison.
