Pieology names longtime Luna Grill exec to lead operations, tech efforts

California-based Pieology has named former Luna Grill executive, Bijan Sami, to oversee operations and technology for the pizza chain as chief operations and information officer, a news release said.

After spending over a decade in the semiconductor industry, with global brands like Qualcomm, Nokia and Conexant, Sami has spent the last 17 years in roles like COO and chief procurement officer at the 52-store chain Luna Grill.

"Bijan brings a wealth of leadership and operating experience, along with the critical technical knowledge we need to continue our global growth and expansion," Pieology CEO Gregg Imamoto said in the release. "It goes without saying that Bijan's full spectrum of restaurant systems expertise will be a great addition to the Pieology team."

Sami said he anticipates great things in his position at Pieology.

"This is a wonderful opportunity and I'm absolutely thrilled to join this incredible brand," Sami said in the release. "I'm looking forward to working hands-on with franchisees, team members within our restaurants, and all Pieology stakeholders as we continue our momentum and growth for the company."

Pieology has 130 stores in its system.
