Pieology Pizzeria has donated $2,119.20 raised from the proceeds of its Daly City, California, grand opening to the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA in Burlingame, Califorina. To celebrate the Daly City grand opening and show the company's commitment to its local community, the restaurant pledged to donate 100 percent of sales from two pre-opening events, according to a press release.

"We'd like to thank the Daly City community for a very warm welcome and for coming out to support the Peninsula Humane Society and the amazing work they do," said Kevin Kawada, general manager of Pieology Daly City. "This partnership is the first of many as we are committed to becoming contributing members of our community while supporting organizations that enrich the lives of our guests."

The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, a privately owned and independent non-profit, shelters animals regardless of age, breed or size. Since opening in 2003, donations have made it possible for the organization to find new homes for 100 percent of the healthy dogs and cats in their care, the release said. The organization rehabilitates wildlife, spays and neuters animals at no cost to low or fixed-income residents, educates children and investigates animal cruelty.

"Partnering with the Daly City Pieology was a fantastic experience as their staff was truly interested in the work we do and enthusiastic about communicating our partnership with guests," said Vice President of Development and Planned Giving Lisa Van Buskirk, for the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA. "Pieology generously donated over $2,000 that will go directly towards helping our shelter animals with medical and behavioral needs. I'm a fan of Pieology's delicious custom pizza and am impressed with their dedication to local causes like ours."
