Penn Station snags former Papa John's exec

March 11, 2021

Penn Station East Coast Subs has hired a former Papa John's executive, Mike Bradford, as director of Real Estate, Development and Construction. He will be responsible for real estate site selection, store construction tracking and remodels.

"Penn Station is committing to growth in 2021, and bringing Mike on board will help facilitate that," Craig Dunaway, president of Penn Station, said in a company press release. "His experience helping franchisees with site selection and restaurant design and development will be helpful for new and existing franchisees. We are building a new development team that will be able to take Penn Station to the next level after more than 35 successful years in business."

Bradford worked at Papa John's International for the last 22 years, most recently serving as director of Franchise Real Estate and Development.

"I'm very excited to take my experience working with franchisees to develop restaurants in the pizza industry and apply that knowledge to helping Penn Station franchisees grow in the sandwich category," Bradford said in the release. "I also really like the relatively small footprint and operational efficiency of a typical Penn Station restaurant, which is approximately 1,500 square feet."

Penn Station, founded in 1985 in Cincinnati, Ohio, has over 300 units and is focused on building out available territories throughout the Midwest, specifically targeting Kansas City, Kansas; Omaha, Nebraska; Detroit and Grand Rapids, Michigan; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Richmond, Virginia; Knoxville, Tennessee; Cleveland, Canton, Akron and Youngstown, Ohio; and Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, North Carolina.
