It pays to be disloyal at Peet's Coffee on National Coffee Day (Sept. 29) when the chain will allow customers to redeem rewards points from competitors, including Starbucks, Dunkin', Dutch Bros, Tim Hortons, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and Bluestone Lane.

By participating in Pete's Disloyalty Program, consumers may use their rewards points to redeem a free drink on National Coffee Day by:

  • Sign in or create a Peetnik Rewards account.
  • Taking a screen grab from another coffee loyalty app.
  • Uploading image that the chain will convert into a free drink reward.
  • Open the Peet's app and order a free drink.

"We know that coffee people can be a bit promiscuous in their hunt for a great cup," Jessica Buttimer, VP of Brand Marketing at Peet's, said in a company press release. "So, we wanted to reward them for their loyalty to the drink because, no matter where else you get your coffee, coffee people deserve great coffee."

The move comes as research from Peet's reveals that roughly 74% of coffee lovers considered their cup of coffee the best part of their day. It also found that 87% knew a good cup of coffee from a bad cup, and 36% considered themselves coffee connoisseurs.

Founded in 1966, in Berkeley, California, Peet's Coffee has over 455 Peet's Coffee locations in the U.S. and China.
