July 27, 2008
Associated Press: Shares of Panera Bread Co. July 23, 2008, fell $2.26, to end at $48.74,after the bakery/cafe operator cautioned investors not to expect earnings-per-share growth over 20 percent in 2009.
The drop came even as the company reported a 24-percent boost in second-quarter profit, helped by higher prices and an increase in same-store sales. Chipotle stock also dropped by about 20 percent, according to media reports.
