Panera revenue rises 35%

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo.— Panera Bread Co. has reported a same-store sales increase of 0.8 percent for the third quarter ended Sept. 25, 2007.
Company-owned comps increased by 1.5 percent and franchise-operated bakery-cafes sales increased by 0.3 percent for the quarter.
Additionally, the company reported an increase in revenues by 35 percent, up to $276 million for the Q3 '07 compared with $205 million for the same period last year.
Bakery-cafe sales accounted for $232 million of consolidated revenues while franchise royalties and fees, and fresh dough sales to franchisees accounted for $44 million of consolidated revenues for the third quarter of 2007.
