Panera launching chicken sandwiches

provided

March 22, 2022

Panera will be the latest chain to enter the so-called Chicken Sandwich Wars next week when it launches two chicken sandwiches, the "Signature Take" and the "Spicy Take." Both will cost $10.99 and feature a quarter-pound of all-white meat chicken breast filet marinated in chicken flavor and seasoned with a spice blend. The filets are seared and finished sous vide to lock in flavor, tenderness and juiciness, Eduardo Luz, chief brand and concept officer, said in a company press release.

"This is no ordinary chicken sandwich," he said. "This is for a guest looking for a delicious, chef-crafted, gourmet-level sandwich, freshly prepared and made with Clean ingredients in true Panera fashion. This will shatter the expectations of what a chicken sandwich should taste like, and we think they're worth every bite and every penny."

The Signature Take features a garlic aioli sauce made with extra virgin olive oil, garlic and a secret blend of spices, as well as parmesan crisps. Finally, it is topped with emerald greens and built on a lightly sweet and hearty brioche roll made with real butter.

The Spicy Take comes with spicy pickle chips alongside its garlic aioli and is stacked on a brioche roll and topped with spicy buffalo sauce.

For to-go orders, the sandwiches are served in a recyclable, tear away-box to help protect the brioche roll from being crushed and keeping the sauce from dripping out, according to the release.
