Raleigh-Durham-based Breadwinners at the Triangle has been named Panera Bread's Featured Franchise Operator, an award which recognizes operational excellence among Panera Bread's 55 franchisees. The announcement came during Panera's annual company meeting in Nashville, Tenn.
Breadwinners at the Triangle, which operates 15 bakery-cafes and marked its 10-year anniversary this year, was recognized for its increasing sales as well as its commitment to company values. The franchise is owned by Joe and Diane Bastian and Joe's sister Casey, who is the operating partner of the business.
"Breadwinners at the Triangle is not our largest franchisee; however, they make up in spirit what they lack in size," Mike Kupstas, senior vice president of franchise operations, said in a news release. "Breadwinners has been one of Panera's greatest success stories, and the Bastians and their team truly embody signature Panera warmth. We are honored to present Breadwinners with the Featured Franchise Operator award."
