Panera Bread will open its 100th location in California Dec. 7 in Citrus Heights.
The new unit will be the first Panera store on the West Coast to include a drive-thru component. Only 42 of the chain's stores have a drive-thru lane.
According to the Sacramento Business Journal, those units bring in about half of their sales from the window.
The Citrus Heights' Panera is opening up in a space formerly occupied by a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts shop, which already had the element.
It will include an all-organic kids menu, and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
