Panera Bread continues with Indianapolis expansion
September 21, 2009
Panera Bread Co. will open its most recent Indianapolis location Sept. 23. The new store is in downtown Indianapolis at Claypool Court and features an outdoor dining area, free Wi-Fi access and group space for convenient lunch meetings.
As part of the opening day celebration, Panera Bread will be hosting a "Breaking of the Bread" ceremony at 8 a.m. Mayor Greg Ballard will join representatives from Panera Bread, Indianapolis Downtown Inc., the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and Simon Property Group to officially welcome Panera Bread to the downtown area.
Panera Bread's innovative catering concept, Via Panera, also will be available at the downtown cafe. Via Panera items are clearly labeled to avoid confusion and are arranged in a unique, compartmentalized box that is easy to carry. In addition, the cafe will have a dedicated Via Panera coordinator on site to manage the entire catering process, from order to pick-up, and to follow up.
Panera has been experiencing a growth spurt in Central Indiana over the last 12 months. Panera invested more than $1.2 million to renovate the Claypool location at the intersection of Washington and Illinois streets.
