Otto’s Tacos pivots to off-premise only model

As the pandemic continues, Otto's Tacos, based in New York, has pivoted into off-premise, digital-only sales — vacating its four brick-and-mortar locations, which closed in March because of COVID-19.

"We've been building Otto's Tacos for seven years in New York City, but, unfortunately, we are one of the many restaurants affected by the global pandemic and had to shut down all our physical locations," Founder Otto Cedeno said in a company press release. "We saw an opportunity to stay in the fight and continue to service customers who loved our tacos by re-launching our brand as a delivery-only model through our new partnership with Mighty Quinn's Barbeque."

Mighty Quinn's Barbeque kitchens will prepare all orders as it will serve all the areas previously serviced by the former Otto's Tacos restaurant locations. Currently, the Upper East Side in Manhattan is running, and additional digital locations will reopen by year's end.

"We have been fans of Otto's Tacos since their opening next door to our flagship location in the East Village in 2013," Micha Magid, Co-CEO of Mighty Quinn's BBQ, said in the release. "They have developed a strong brand in the city and we look forward to bringing their food back to New Yorkers."

Mighty Quinn's was introduced in 2011, when co-founder and Pitmaster Hugh Mangum smoked brisket and pulled pork out of a mobile smoker hitched to his pickup truck in Williamsburg (Brooklyn). The brand now has nine corporate-owned locations, a restaurant at Yankee Stadium, Madison Square Garden and multiple franchised units.
