Ono Hawaiian BBQ, founded in 2002 on Santa Monica Boulevard in California, is opening a ground-up location Thursday in Monterey Park, California, marking its 97th unit.
The restaurant, which offers only take-out and drive-thru service, will give $50 gift cards to customers via social media platforms, but those visiting opening day will receive vouchers for freebies, according to a company press release.
The freestanding unit sits off the 60 Freeway at Monterey Park Marketplace and features a hand-painted mural by Susanna Negrete, Ono's senior creative designer.
The chain, which plans to open 12 units this year in California and Arizona, is focused more on ground-up builds with drive-thrus to accommodate for customers' desire for convenience, according to the release.
