While many restaurants are catering to guests hoping to drop a few pounds in the new year, McCain Foods is betting that others won't forget about the customer wanting to indulge a sweet tooth. The company has partnered with Hostess to make Deep Fried Twinkies — a treat once reserved for state fairs — available to restaurant menus across the country, according to a company press release.
"Hostess Twinkies have been a snack time go-to for more than 85 years," Susan Wasco, senior marketing director at McCain Foods USA, said in the release. "We are excited to introduce this cult-classic to foodservice, available in a ready-to-deep-fry format, through our partnership with Hostess."
McCain recommended that restaurants use the Twinkies in a variety of ways, including Twinkies Pops, Twinkies garnished with sprinkles and powdered sugar and served with dunking sauces (pictured right). Another option is the Caramel Bacon Twinkie which pairs caramel-topped Twinkies and real bacon pieces.
