The National Restaurant Association is calling on Congress to replenish the Restaurant Revitalization Fund, due to concerns over the Delta variant affecting consumer confidence.
A NRA survey revealed that 60% of consumers are changing their dining behaviors due to the variant, according to a press release.
The survey also found that 19% of adults who go out to eat have stopped going to restaurants and 37% are choosing takeout or delivery instead. In addition, 19% of those that do go sit outside instead of inside.
"For an industry that requires a 'full house' every evening to make a profit, this is a dangerous trend," Sean Kennedy, executive vice president of Public Affairs for the National Restaurant Association, said in the release. "These changes indicate declining consumer confidence that will make it more difficult for most restaurant owners to maintain their delicate financial stability."
