NFL, restaurant veteran opens second Jersey Mike's location

Former NFL player Van Jakes has opened his second Jersey Mike's location, this one at 10359 Tara Blvd in Jonesboro, Georgia.

The location is hosting a fundraiser through Oct. 30, offering 7,500 coupons for a free regular sub with a $1 donation to Lovejoy High School.

Prior to opening his first Jersey Mike's, Jakes owned and operated McDonald's restaurants. Jakes has a passion for training former NFL players in restaurant franchising.

"I was working with McDonald's when I first heard of Jersey Mike's, learning about other brands to introduce to the players. I was impressed by the passion behind the brand and now I'm not just telling potential franchise owners about the success of Jersey Mike's—I’m showing them," said Jakes, in a press release.
