Newk's opens units in 2 college towns

Newk's Eatery is opening in two SEC college towns: Athens, Georgia and Gainesville, Florida. The locations, opening near the University of Georgia and the University of Florida, respectively, will host grand-opening celebrations featuring the chance to win free Newk's for a year, according to a company press release.

The first 100 customers at each of the location's grand opening celebrations, in addition to those who text NEWKS4AYEAR to 75272, will be entered to win.

The grand opening event for the Georgia unit is Jan. 24 and includes swag, and prize giveaways will take place from 2 to 4 p.m., when winners of the free Newk’s for a year will also be announced. UGA students and faculty will receive 15% off their meals by sharing a photo using #DawgsEatNewks on Facebook or Instagram. 

The Florida event is Jan. 17 and features an 11 a.m. ribbon-cutting and appearances from the University of Florida Spirit Squad, which includes Florida Gator Cheerleaders and mascots, Albert and Alberta Gator. Swag and prize giveaways will take place from 3 to 5 p.m.
