In celebration of National Soup Month and one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year, Super Bowl XLVIII, Newk's Eatery is hosting a Souper Bowl contest of its own. The competition is between two soups vying to win a spot on the soup schedule of nearly 70 Newk's restaurants, according to a company press release.
From Jan. 20 to 24, guests at participating Newk's fresh casual restaurants have the opportunity to taste and score a point for their favorite new scratch-made soup. The soups competing for the winning score are Chicken Enchilada and Crawfish & Pepperjack.
Chicken Enchilada incorporates the flavor of Southwest spices, chicken simmered with tomatoes, jalapenos, corn and black beans and is finished with cilantro and cream, according to the company. Crawfish & Pepperjack is made from tender crawfish tails simmered in a velvety Pepperjack cheese soup with Cajun seasoning, green bell peppers, onions and a splash of Tabasco sauce.
Newk's currently offers 11 rotating soups on its culinary-inspired menu, which consists of fresh-tossed salads, oven-baked sandwiches, California-style pizzas, made-from-scratch soups and homemade cakes. Four soups are featured daily and rotate as the seasons change, allowing Newk's to continually update its soup options. The winning Souper Bowl flavor will be added to Newk's Spring/Summer soup menu.
