Newk’s Express Café will open its 50th restaurant April 16 in Jacksonville, Fla. The restaurant is the company’s first in Jacksonville and third in Florida.
“We are ecstatic about opening our 50th restaurant only eight years after our first location opened in Mississippi,” said Chris Newcomb, co-founder, president and CEO of Newk’s Express Café. “We have many more restaurants in the pipeline and expect to open at least 15 more by the end of this year. Our 50th location is in a new market and we will enter many other cities and states for the first time this year. 2012 is set to be a great year for Newk’s.”
Since opening its first location in Oxford, Miss., in 2004, Newk’s Express Cafés have expanded their presence to 11 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.Newk's has approximately 50 restaurants and more than 40 are franchised. Five new restaurants opened in 2010 and 15 opened in 2011. Projections call for 20 restaurants to open in 2012 and 32 to open in 2013.
