New ice-maker features safety, operating monitors

Restaurant operators now have a new modular ice-maker to consider. The Indigo NXT from Manitowoc features overall food zone safety features and easy-to-read displays that monitor everything from water use to operational status, a news release said.

The Indigo NXT uses a 2.8-inch icon-based display that gives restaurant staff a constant visual reminder of the machine’s operating status through color indicators. The ice-maker has one-touch access to asset information, service menu, reminders and alerts, and can be programmed to turn off during peak energy rates. 

The hinged, swing-open front door does not need to be removed to access the food zone, protecting overall sanitary conditions. All food zone parts can be removed for sanitation without the use of tools.

The Indigo NXT exceeds the new energy standards set by the U.S. Department of Energy and many are qualified for rebates.
