Native Foods Café and the Surfrider Foundation teamed up through their inaugural "Veg Pledge" to raise awareness of the conservation of water as well as its quality. In a recent press release, the two companies announced the pledge would be active during the month of August, which is Water Quality Month.
The Veg Pledge, according to the report, urges the public to eat at least one vegan or vegetarian meal a week during August, therefore saving 3,300 gallons of water that week.
Native Foods Café also announced it would host many other initiatives throughout the month, including discounts on Native Foods Café meals, free prizes and proceeds donated to the Surfrider Foundation, an ocean conservation organization.
The report shared several ways to reduce one’s water footprint, such as installing a rain barrel, fixing leaky pipes, and turning off water when brushing teeth.
