Muscle Maker Grill is doubling the number of restaurants being developed in California’s East Bay area. The decision to increase the number of franchises from five to 10 was based on the success of its first restaurant in the Golden State, which opened in Antioch in mid-March.
“We have received an overwhelmingly positive response from the Antioch community and surrounding area since the restaurant opened,” said Sam Shaer, franchise owner of the new California locations. “The popularity of the restaurant combined with theunparalleled marketing, franchising and operational support we have received from the Muscle Maker Grill team motivated us to add more locations to our development plans.”
Sam Shaer, of Brentwood, Calif., and his two partners, Tony Shoman, also of Brentwood, and Zee Dames of Oakland, will operate all 10 restaurants. The next restaurant is slated to open in Walnut Creek.
Muscle Maker Grill was founded in 1995 by Rod Silva. Currently, Muscle Maker Grill has 35 restaurants open in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida and California.
“As the trend to be more health-conscious continues to spread nationwide, Muscle Maker Grill aims to fill the void for a restaurant that offers quick meal options that taste great and are good for you,” Silva said. “We are thrilled to see that our restaurant concept is being well-received by California residents, and we hope to bring our great-tasting, healthy options to more states in the West.”
