Mother-daughter duo open 2nd Washington Zoup

April 24, 2017

Bothell, Washington residents are getting their first Zoup!, which is the state's second unit. The grand opening is Thursday of the restaurant located 1410 228th St. SE, near the Canyon Park Place Business Park, according to a company press release.

"This is the first Zoup! in the greater Seattle area, so we can't wait to open our doors and start sharing our delicious soups, salads and sandwiches with the community," franchisee and restaurant co-owner Kari Hingst said in a news release. She and her mother, Fran Steinert, purchased the location together.

"My mom and I drove all around the Northwest visiting various Zoup! locations and we couldn't be happier to be opening one of our own. Residents of Seattle and surrounding areas, including Bothell, are all very health-conscious and active, so Zoup! is going to fit in perfectly."

This is the mother-daughter duo's first Zoup!, and they hope to open additional locations in the area in the near future.

The duo will host a fundraiser Wednesday benefiting the Northshore Schools Foundation. For a $5 donation, guests will receive a bowl of soup, a hunk of fresh-baked bread and a small fountain drink with 100 percent of the proceeds donated to the organization, according to the release

"We're very pleased to support the important work being done by our local schools," said Steinert. "We're inviting the entire community to come out and enjoy some delicious soup and help us make a meaningful difference in the lives of the kids and families served by the foundation."
