Morton's Steakhouse legacy partners with James Beard-nominated chef to franchise Chicago's DMK Burger Bar

October 4, 2017

Five-time James Beard nominated Chef Michael Kornick, Morton's Steakhouse legacy David Morton and David Grossman have joined forces to franchise Chicago's DMK Burger Bar.

The brand, which serves grass-fed beef, Colorado lamb, all-natural turkey and veggie burgers, is accepting franchise applications for Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin, and plans to have a presence in every corner of the globe, starting with the Midwest, Morton said in a company press release.

"There has been pent-up demand for more DMK Burger Bars for years," he said. "Longtime local customers and visitors to Chicago would often approach us to please franchise the premium burger concept. We know the model and culture we've created are just as crave-able as the menu items we serve. Our franchise partners will have access to a major chef who is always the smartest guy in the room when it comes to food."

DMK Burger Bar has seen success in a variety of locations and formats during its eight years in Chicago. From counter service in Soldier Field and the food court of a suburban mall to full service in the original neighborhood burger joint and at Chicago's Navy Pier, DMK Burger Bar has proven it can work in any setting with hungry customers, said Director of Franchise Development David Grossman, who has franchising experience with Subway, General Growth Properties and Freshii.

"Long before you fire up the grill, the success of a restaurant starts with finding the most capable operator," he said. "If you care about sourcing, sustainability and philanthropy and enjoy delicious burgers, DMK Burger Bar is the franchise opportunity you've been waiting for."
