The Sunshine State will have its first MOOYAH next October when the better burger restaurant opens at 731 East Yosemite Avenue in Merced, Calif.
Franchisee Eldridge Johns and his wife, Vanessa, said opening a new restaurant is about giving back to the community.
"Merced has been hit hard by the economy. We have one of the highest unemployment rates in the state, and this new restaurant will give people something to smile about," said the Johns. "The food is fantastic and a great value, but we're also glad to bring more new jobs to the county."
Eldridge Johns, became interested in franchising after he was laid off in 2002 from his Silicon Valley job. He said he realizes how people are attracted to the better burgers segment of the restaurant industry.
"There are a lot of people trying to put out a better burger but MOOYAH really stands out. We love the quality and options — white or wheat buns, loads of toppings, special sauces, even four kinds of cheese. Everyone can get exactly what they want, every time," he said.
MOOYAH has seen explosive growth in the last several years, with restaurants currently opening in Texas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas, Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut, and Washington, D.C.
